SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Saginaw Township Community Schools is getting close to choosing its new superintendent.

The former superintendent, Doug Trombly, left the position back in May.

A search firm found five qualified applicants and has narrow it down to two people... Millington Superintendent Bruce Martin and Au Gres Superintendent Jeffrey Collier.

Both candidates met with the board and the public Tuesday evening.

"We're looking for a well-qualified candidate who knows what it takes to run a school district. Also, one that can connect to our community, our students, our staff and our community to leverage the things that we are doing well and help us move into the future,” said school board president Mike Colucci.

The school board will hold a special meeting this Thursday to make a decision on its new superintendent.

They hope to have the position filled by the September 24th board meeting.
