SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Officer Jeff Koenig's road to recovery will be long.
According to Saginaw Township Police Chief Don Pussehl, Koenig was released from the hospital on Friday and is home recovering.
His jaw is still wired shut and we are told he's in quite a bit of pain, but stable.
His family is requesting privacy during his recovery process but is thankful for the outpouring of community support.
“It will be a lengthy recovery period before the doctors will do surgery. It may be several months before they decide to begin restorative surgery to his jaw,” said Pussehl.
The chief says when the time is right, they will deliver the hundreds of cards, signs, and well wishes that have poured into the police station wishing Officer Koenig a speedy recovery.
