FLINT, Mich. - The Greater Flint Arts Council is teaming up with Flint Community Schools to bring the Jungle Book to life.

Two schools are performing jungle book kids this week after being selected for a new theater program.

Holmes Stem Academy and Doyle Ryder Elementary Schools were chosen by the partnership between Disney Musicals in Schools and the Wharton Center at Michigan State University.

The partnership aims to bring theater programs to urban districts.

“Kids need something like this the arts have been pulled out of the school systems and we are so blessed that we still have that here in Flint Community Schools and we want to show our kids off,” said Samia Brown.

The Flint Art Council provided more than $2,000 for the performance.
