GENESEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A Genesee Township banquet hall is being transformed into a marijuana-friendly entertainment center, but you'll have to go prepared.

The Rec Center will welcome recreational marijuana when it opens to crowds 21 and older Saturday.

The business on north Dort Highway near east Mount Morris Road will sell food and offer games like billiards and air hockey.

Township officials say the business cannot change use without going before the planning and zoning department.

The rec center staff says they will not sell marijuana or alcohol keeping with the rules.

"We have our zoning license. We've had that for a while. This was actually a wedding hall, which we ran. So, we're not worried at all. Everyone needs to come out. Don't worry. We're all legal here. Come out. Chill. Relax. Have a smoke with us,” said employee Tara Hernandez.

The Rec Center will host live music and bring in a chef for its grand opening saturday beginning at 9 p.m.
