SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - Former Vice President Joe Biden was in Michigan Wednesday.

He was campaigning with democratic gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer and Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan in Southfield.

The three were greeting customers at Leo's Coney Island on Northwestern Highway.

The former vice president says Whitmer has a key characteristic that people are looking for in this election season.

"This election, more than any I've been engaged in, we're looking for people with character, who understand that invisible moral fabric that holds up this country, decency, honor, honesty, giving hate no safe harbor. The American people want to reestablish who we are as a people,” Biden said.

The trio shook hands and took pictures with customers, and even toured the kitchen.
