SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. -Funeral services were held Saturday for the Shiawassee County man who was stabbed over 40 times in a Chicago apartment last month.
Friends and family gathered in Lennon this to pay their respects to 26-year-old Trenton Cornell-Duranleau.
The private memorial service was held at the Lennon Wesleyan Church.
Police restricted members of the media from getting too close.
He was laid to rest in a Lennon cemetery following the service.
Meanwhile in California, Oxford University financial officer Andrew Warren waived extradition Friday in the murder case of Cornell-Durnaleau.
The 48-year-old will return to Illinois from San Francisco to face charges alongside Northwestern University professor Wyndham Lathem.
Both men were arrested in California after leading authorities on a weeklong manhunt.
They're charged with killing the hairdresser who was found stabbed to death in Lathem's Chicago apartment.
