Police: Wrong-way driver causes deadly crash on I-75

GRAND BLANC TOWNSHIP, Mich., -- Grand Blanc Township Police say that a wrong-way driver caused a deadly crash on I-75.

According to a news release, Genesee County 911 began receiving calls about a wrong-way driver heading southbound in the northbound lanes of I-475 just before 11 p.m.

Calls continued as the vehicle traveled into Grand Blanc Township.

The wrong-way driver traveled from I-475 onto northbound I-75.

According to the release, the vehicle struck a northbound vehicle head on.

Both drivers were pronounced dead on scene.

The wrong-way vehicle was a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 60-year-old man from Flint, and the northbound vehicle was a 2014 Ford Focus driven by a 25-year-old woman from Macomb.

The northbound lanes of I-75 were shut down for five hours.

Police say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.



The crash is still under investigation.

It happened Monday night just after 11 PM. No other details are being released at this time.
