GRAND BLANC, Mich. – A community pulling together to help a young girl battling brain cancer for the third time.

Five-year-old Sofia Rider has ependymoma and although she has been treated several times, the cancer continues to come back with no proven cure.

Tuesday a benefit luncheon was held in Grand Blanc to raise money for Sofia to participate in a clinical trial in Atlanta.

"They just kind of spontaneously put this event on over the last week and um I mean it just means a lot to have people from the community that don't know us personally whatever, just come out here in support of our sweet little Sofia um in the situation she's in and we're just so grateful," said Sofia’s father Scott Rider.

Sophia's parents say while they wait for new treatments their focus is making sure little Sofia has a quality life.
