MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. --Exciting partnerships and expansions coming out of Central Michigan University.
CMU is celebrating 125 years and to kick it off, the president gave his State of the University Address.
University President George Ross says his focus is on student leadership and building strong partnerships with employers and during his address, he reinforced that focus by naming two Michigan-based companies as premier partners.
President Ross says CMU is developing a core group of premier business partners that will work directly with building student leaders and recruiting talent from the university.
The partnership would give the students prime access to internships and jobs and the companies would get first pick for recruiting the talent.
Ford Motor Company and Quicken Loans were the first two companies to receive this official title but President Ross says this is only the beginning.
President Ross also announced plans to expand the university's leadership institute to include every student at the university.
He says that expansion would involve more focused programs and experiences to help students develop their sense of purpose.
