BANGOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Many Bangor Township residents have the wind to thank Sunday for averting damage to their homes.
Bangor Township Supervisor Glenn Rowley says a change in the winds around 12 a.m. pushed flood waters away from some homes along the Saginaw Bay shoreline.
There are still some homes with damage and some shoreline erosion to contend with.
Rowley says like many other communities he's also dealing with the ice all over cars, homes and sidewalks.
They thought about opening up the township hall for those who were flooded out of their homes, but because of the change in wind direction, they didn't need to.
