A group of student interns are encouraging youth at Kalamazoo College to get out and vote for the upcoming election.

It's part of a nationwide effort across college campuses, the Student PIRGs New Voters Project.

According to an organizer, Alexandra Hale, polls show young people have the lowest voter turnout of any demographic.

Hale said nearly 1,300 student in 16 states were recruited by the New Voters Project in just the first month of the fall semester.

Their goal is to help register and mobilize 250,000 students by November 3.
