In 2017 Americans spent a record almost $17 billion celebrating Easter, according to the National Retail Federation.

Most people buy what else? Candy!

Mars-Wrigley says 89 percent of the most popular items in Easter baskets is chocolate.

But, as Jennifer Proffit reports that sweet treat can put a dent in your wallet and some extra inches on your waistline.

Consumer Reports advises that the key isn't to cut yourself off from treats, just control those portions.
