Catholic Charities’ six feeding sites serves over 203,000 meals each year. They rely heavily on donations. They accept non-perishable food items, cutlery kits, cups, napkins, and monetary donations. Foods most needed currently are pasta, tomato sauce, canned vegetables, canned meat, rice, beans, boxed potatoes, stuffing, and canned fruit.

Catholic Charities’ Center for Hope Community Closet distributes toiletries, household items, and clothing to persons in need. They are most in need of bar soap, dish soap, laundry soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, and deodorant. They accept travel-sized and hotel toiletries. Also, there is an urgent need for new or gently used winter items such as hats, gloves, mittens, coats, snow pants, boots, and blankets for all ages, especially for children. They also need gently-used bedding like sheets and pillows. Last year, the Community Closet distributed over 300,000 pieces of clothes.

Catholic Charities’ warming center gives the homeless in our community a warm place to get out of the weather from December 3rd through April 1st.

You can also help the effort, by giving to the Stuff the Truck event on Wednesday, November 21 from 4-7 p.m., before the Flint Firebirds home game at Dort Federal Event Center.
